On Wednesday we took the car for the first real road test. We drove a 20 minute loop around Rolla on Old St. James Road. We had no problems with the car and we are satisfied with the performance of Solar Miner VII.
After hitting the road with Solar Miner VII we will do several practice runs to Licking, MO on thursday. The 35 mile route has served the team as practice route for more than 10 years. We expect to have every driver to drive at least one full trip.
For the annual Earth Day events here at Missouri S&T, we displayed Solar Miner IV and let the kids sit in the chassis.
The following day, team members Jeremy Clemens, Justin Dobrynski, David Mast, and Tommy Tran took Solar Miner IV to Jefferson City, Mo., for the Department of Natural Resources' Earth Day events at the capital.

We took the opportunity of nice warm sunny day
to take our team picture. Now the final formal requirement for the
participation in the American Solar Challenge
can be submitted soon.
Solar Array Placement
With most of the finals done the team
will be spending the rest of the week to get the electrical systems
ready for the placement of the array Monday. Fans can take a look over our
shoulders with a new high def webcam.
We are able to drive the car now with the body. The canopy and the placement of the solar panels on the body will be done after finals week. We are looking forward to driving a few test laps during the week.
The race with Missouri S&T Miner Baja had to be postponed.
